How does the app work?

AutoSMS is simple yet powerful – it sends customised SMS messages automatically from your handset via your existing network provider.

Does it annoy people? I want to target business opportunities – not bother my friends.

AutoSMS has been designed to filter out your friends, family and anyone else who you don’t want to send automated replies to. The “Exclude Address Book” option prevents the app from messaging your stored contacts. Also, AutoSMS will never message the same number twice (unless you clear the in-built log).

I've installed AutoSMS, so how do I get started?

1. Enter your Promotional Message and/or Business Card details
2. Highlight the options in the Configure screen that match your requirements

Should I send Promotional Messages, Business Cards or both?

AutoSMS allows you to respond with either or both. “Promotional Messages” should be short, snappy text messages which promote your services, thank the caller for getting in touch and remind them of your contact details. “Business Cards” send your business card details in the form of an SMS message which your prospects or customers can automatically save to their address book.

Will the app reply to landline numbers?

Using the “Cell/Mobile Only” option you can set the app to only respond to mobile phones. Simply enter the mobile phone prefix code for your country (e.g. 07 in the UK) and the app will only respond to numbers starting with those digits.

** please note that this option doesn't work in the USA because there is no mobile/landline between prefix code differentiation.

Can the app respond to phone calls and SMS messages?

Yes. You can choose to auto-respond to calls or SMS messages or both.

Can I check who has been contacted by AutoSMS?

Yes. AutoSMS has a log which details which numbers have been contacted and when.

How do I use the “Cell/Mobile Only” option?

In the Configure screen select “Cell/Mobile Only”. Then input the prefix code for shared by all mobile phone numbers in your region (for example, UK mobile numbers start 07). Then press Save.

AutoSMS is not sending replies?

1. Remember that is “Exclude Address Book” is highlighted then your stored contacts will not receive messages from AutoSMS.
2. Remember that AutoSMS will never message the same number twice unless you clear the in-built log. Check the number(s) are not already stored in the log.
3. In some rare cases you may need to uninstall and reinstall AutoSMS.
4. Check your version of Android up to date. AutoSMS is supported on Android 2.2 and above.

My Promotional Message and/or Business Cards are using 2 SMS credits each?

You may have too many characters in your Promotional Message or Business Card (a single SMS messages can be up to 160 characters long). AutoSMS has an in-built character count - at the bottom of the Promotional Message and Business Card screens you will find “SMS Credit(s)”.
